Sid Caesar, pioneer of American comedy, dead at 91

Called a "pioneer of american comedy", writer, actor and comedian, Sid Ceaser has passed away at the age of 91. The news was first broken by long time friend, Larry King on his twitter account who wrote, "Sorry to learn about the passing of Sid Ceaser, a dear friend, a comic genius and an american classic - there will never be another one like him".

Ceaser first acheived national notariety as the host of the TV series "Your Show of Shows" and "Ceaser's Hour" in the 1950's. He moved into film in the 60's with movies like "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, then later in Mel Brooks "History of the World, Part 1". Ceaser is perhaps best known to our generation as Coach Calhoun in the first 2 "Grease" movies.

Condolences and acolades were offered on twitter by such collegues as Carl Reiner, Woody Allen, Whoopy Goldberg, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jon Lovits and of course, Larry King.

RIP Sid.
