One visit to ComicCon and you understand why comic book action hero fans behave the way they do.
But perhaps none are more enthusiastic than Herbert Chavez of Calamba City, Phillipines who's undergone 19 surgeries in 16 years in an effort to look exactly like Superman. His physical alterations include skin whitening, nose jobs, pectoral and abdominal implants and a high maintenance cleft chin.
Now anyone who's ever had plastic surgery here in the U.S will be equally amazed at the cost of these procedures in the Phillipines. A mere $7,000. Women can't even get a simple boob job for that in the United States.
What's even more amazing is that Chavez hasn't had to pay a nickle himself. The jobs were all done gratas by the surgeon as part of a promotional agreement. Evidently, Chavez is somewhat famous in his native land and makes appearances promoting good morals to children.
That's pretty cool, but he cements himself as a total nerd by owning the worlds's largest collection of Superman memorabilia - a collection of 1,253 items.
Oh, and surprise, surprise, Herbert Chavez is still single.
