Here's more sad commentary on the educational system in our country, only this time, it's not the students who need help, but the administrators.
Public school officials in the Hempstead district of Long Island, NY decided to give extra credit to students who would read books during the summer vacation. Great idea right? Absolutely! However, when the school district issued the summer reading list it was found to contain 30 spelling and typographical errors.
The most glaring perhaps was the complete mistitling of the book "The Great Gatsby", which was listed as "The Great Gypsy"
When asked for comment, the New York State Department of Education's Board of Regents said "Hempstead has not had a stable administration for a long time and the kids are suffering." So what the hell are they gonna do about it?
God help the poor kids of Hempstead Long Island.
