The other day we shared this story with you about the homeless man, whose name we now know is Glen James, and has been without shelter for the last 8 years and how he came across a backpack containing about $42,000 in cash and travelers checks and then turned it in to police...ALL OF IT.
We closed the story by saying we hoped the backpack's owner finds Mr. James and gives him a nice reward. That didn't happen, but Glen James is still getting a reward, an even bigger one that the 42 grand itself.
Thanks to another good samaratin named Ethan Whittington, Glen James will receive a check for more than $78,000, almost double the amount he turned in. Mr. Whittington heard the story and decided to set up a website called GoFundMe dot com where people could make donations on Mr. James behalf. And donations they did make. more than 3,100 people ponied up the cash to help Glen James start a new life for himself. Whittington says he has contacted an organization that will help Mr. James learn how to manage and invest his money so he can spend the rest of his days living somewhere than under a bridge in Boston.
Whittington also says he hopes this will set a good example for others when it comes to helping out our fellow man. We just say, Yes Indeed and a big thank you to you.
