If you blinked or ran to the fridge for a beer during this year's Super Bowl back in February you may have missed it.
We're of course talking about half time performer M.I.A and her obscene gesture of flipping the bird on live TV while singing, er, uh rapping her song on the on-field stage. It took literally less than 1 second of air time, but the NFL, being the up-standing, wholesome, God-fearing Sesame Street slash Mr. Rogers type organization that it is, was totally offended by the gesture as is suing the Sri Lankan born artist for $1.5 million.
Yep, you heard right, the NFL, whose on field employees routinely damage the aforementioned spotless reputation with weekly arrests for drunk driving, assault, wife beating, drug use, etc
We know what you're saying..."why are we just hearing about this now, when the event took place over 8 months ago?"
Evidently, the NFL wanted to sue quietly and probably would have, but the defendant's attorney has gone public in an effort to showcase the NFL's hipocracy as well as gain public support for his client.
Looks like he achieved part of that goal anyway.
