Detroit used to be known as the "Murder Capitol" and is still in the top 3 headed only by the big apple and shy-town, but according to the latest homicide statistics, the considerably smaller burg to the north of Detroit, good old Flint, Michigan is now said to have the most murders per capita of any city in the U.S
Key phrase there is per capita. 500 people were killed unnecessarily last year in Chicago. Roughly 419 in both New York and Detroit, but 63 people were murdered in Flint, and when you factor in their population of about 100,000, that equates to around 1 in every 1,600 people getting killed last year.
In Detroit which ranks 3rd highest for numbers of people killed had a frequency of about 1 in 1,800.
What's really sad though is that 2 of those "murderous" towns are in the state of Michigan. Thank heavens they didn't rank Muskegon Heights or Benton Harbor or we may have more.
