We don't know if this school's request is legal or not, but it certainly seemed a little alarmist.
Scott Urkov is an officer on the Collidge, Arizona police force outsite of Mesa where his daughter attends the Entz Elementary school. Every day he drops her off at school on his way to work wearing of course, his complete police uniform. Evidently, other students who witness the drop off have gone home to tell their parents they see the armed officer at school daily. The alarmist parents complained for whatever reason and the school has asked officer Urkov to please drop off his daughter wearing civilian clothing instead of his uniform.
At first, Urkov fired off a rather harsh facebook post wondering why in the world the parents would complain saying he thought kids should actually feel more safe knowing they're protected by his presence although brief. He's made no additional comments since the facebook post and the school has issued one of those politically corrent non-apologies claiming he took the request the worng way.
What do you think? Is the school out of line, or is the officer overreactng?
