Man knocked unconscious by falling futon mattress in Manhattan

New York can be a dangerous place for pedestrians. You could get hit by a taxi, mugged or knocked unconscious by a flying mattress. That very thing happened to Jesse Scott Owen as he was making his way through Manhattan to catch a subway to get to class at Kings College. Witnesses said the futon mattress fell from a height of 30 stories and could have been blown off a nearby rooftop spa by high winds. All Owen recalls was getting hit on the head with something and then waking up as people were easing him onto the mattress to rest. (Convenient!) He was released from the hospital but suffered a sprained neck and possibly a herniated disc.
